A mural is a type of fresco, also known as “trompe l’oeil,” a French term meaning the trick occurring in the eye since it’s caught in an optical illusion.

It deals with an artistic technique that involves the perspective and extremely realistic imagery, in order to create an optical illusion where painted objects have the appearance of being in three dimensions instead of just the reality of the two, thus transporting the viewer to a different world with just one glance.

Decorative murals or frescoes can represent diverse themes such as skies, landscapes and architectural elements, among others, and can be performed on both walls and ceiling surfaces and on other types of supports.

In its execution, acrylic paint soluble in water is generally used, but it is possible to use other painting techniques.
